    During September 26-29, B.E. 2559 (2016), the World Fellowship of Buddhists held the 28th General Conference in Seoul, Republic of Korea. The  four-day event with the theme “Buddhism in Daily life, Daily life of Buddhists”, and hosted by the Jingak Order of Korean Buddhism, was also the venue for  the 19th General Conference of the World Fellowship of Buddhists Youth and the 10th Meeting of the World Buddhist University.

 

    The Conference was attended by hundreds of delegate from Buddhist organizations around the world and was held at  the Headquarter of the Jingak Order (Chongin-weon) of Korean Buddhism  and at other venues in  the city. For the 10th WBU Council Meeting held on September 26, at the Sky Park hotel, 18 of all 22 members were presented to discuss WBU internal affairs with Prof. Noranit  Setabutr who presided as the Chairperson.

 

    The Highlights of the 28th WFB General Conference:

  • A welcome speech at the opening ceremony by Most Rev. Hoe-Jeong, the president of Jingak Order of Korean Buddhism, which this year marked the 70th anniversary of the Order. 
  • The WFB Exco Members reelected H.E. Phan Wannamethee as the WFB President for another term.
  • The WFBY Council Members  elected Mr. Denpong  Suwannachairop, the WFBY Secretary General, to be the new President of the WFBY.

 

    The 29th WFB Conference will be hosted by Japan Buddhist Federation (JBF) and held at Narita, Japan, on November 5-9, 2018.
