Mission statement
To establish a Network Center of Buddhist research and scholars to explore new and developing areas of Buddhism.
Goals and Objectives
The Goals and objectives of the Institute of Research and Development are to:
1. Network and co-ordinate with current Buddhist research,
2. Explore new areas in, and clarify Buddhist research,
3. Collect and store research completed by Buddhist scholars and others,
4. Provide relevant information regarding Buddhism and other major religions.
Strategies
Phase 1: B.E. 2546-2547 (2003-2004)
Preparation of concept paper and documents based on the results of Research and Development Group Discussion at the World Fellowship of Buddhists Symposium on "Thailand and the World Buddhist University" held in March 2542 (1999).
Phase 2: B.E. 2548-2552 (2005-2009)
1. Network to co-ordinate current Buddhist research. (2002-2005)
o Link Buddhist researchers throughout the world
o Hold conferences for Buddhist researchers to present their works and exchange their ideas and experiences
o Publish outstanding pieces of research work
2. Explore new areas for Buddhist research. (2003-2005)
o Promote new research in Buddhism
o Provide funds for research in Buddhism
o Provide relevant information regarding Buddhism and other major religions. (2003-2005)
3. Collect and store research work completed by Buddhist scholars and others. (2001-2003)
o Prepare resources required for collecting and disseminating information
o Lay out the research structure of Buddhism in the world
o Organize the collected research work in and internationally recognized manner so that it is convenient for retrieval
